Hi, I’m Hortense
Passionate knitter, crocheter and hoarder of yarn
It all started on a beach when I was 10. My mom handed me a pair of knitting needles, and I've been stitching ever since.
What began as a simple summer distraction turned into a lifelong love (some would call it an obsession) with yarn. It wasn't until I discovered the online world of knitting and crochet that I realized how much more there was to learn: new techniques, clever constructions, tiny details I'd never seen before.
Over time, I stopped following other people's instructions and started writing my own.
In 2018, I launched Knitting with Chopsticks to share the kind of patterns I wished I'd had: simple, satisfying, and designed to grow your confidence with every stitch. With a background in engineering, I know how to break things down -- no jargon, no overwhelm.
Today, I help makers like you create through approachable patterns, free tutorials, online events, and my Stitching Squad community.
