k3tog: knit 3 stitches together
- Insert your right needle knitwise (from left to right, front to back) through the next 3 stitches on the left needle, all at once
- Wrap the yarn around the right needle as you would for a normal knit stitch
- Pull that loop through all 3 stitches together and slide them off the left needle

The Actual Divider Free Knitting Pattern
Switch to Goose Down colored yarn.
Two options are given for this divider row. If you’re a more beginner knitter, I’d recommend using Option 2. Option 1 is a little more advanced, but it’s a fun and different stitch that’s well worth trying out (check the Video Tutorial section above for the video once it’s live).
Option 1: Horizontal Stitches
Row 1: P1, k1, [p1, k1] twice, knit until last 6 st, [k1, p1] three times.
Row 2: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, purl until last 6 st, [p1, k1] three times.
Row 3: Sl1p, k1, [p1, k1] twice, add 2 additional stitches on your right needle, slip these 2 stitches on the left needle, *knit into the third stitch on the left needle through the back loop, knit into the first stitch on the left needle and drop the loop you’ve worked as normal, knit into the next new stitch on the left needle and drop the loop you’ve worked as normal as well as the stitch you worked through the back loop left on the left needle, slip back 2 stitches purlwise from your right needle to left needle (holding the yarn in the back), and repeat from * until you have 9 stitches left on the left needle (7 stitches plus the 2 you slipped), k3tog, [k1, p1] three times.
Option 2: Garter Line
Row 1: Sl1p, k1, [p1, k1] twice, knit until last 6 st, [k1, p1] three times.
Row 2: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, knit until last 6 st, [p1, k1] three times.
Row 3: Repeat Row 1.
This divider is worked between every section of the Step into Cables Shawl Knitalong, right after switching to Goose Down colored yarn and before diving into whichever cable section comes next.
