The Part 1 eyelet divider knit pattern is the 1st section in the Step into Lace Shawl Knitalong (KAL).

Before You Start Part 1 Eyelet Divider Free Knitting Pattern

Materials

• 4 mm / US 6 knitting needles

• DK weight yarn: LB Collection® Superwash Merino Yarn (100% superwash merino wool,  100g/3.5oz, 280m/306yd): You will need about 10g/28m/30yd in Antique [486-098K]

• Tapestry needle

As we know picking beautiful color combinations to work well together while highlighting the beautiful textured of lace knit stitches can quickly become a real headache. To help you visualize some colors together, I have put together four specially curated color combinations examples for you to choose from.

Size

The Divider section is approximately 2 cm / 0.75” inches high and 40 cm/15.75” wide after  blocking.

The stitch featured in this section requires a multiple of 12 st.

Abbreviations & Instructions

• st = stitch

• k = knit (k 2 means knit 2 stitches)

• p = purl

• sl1k = slip 1 stitch knitwise

• yo = yarn over

Repeat instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row. The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row between < >.

Notes

The divider section will not look perfectly symmetrical until you’ve made the first row of the  next section and the last row of the divider section is off your needles.

The Actual Part 1 Eyelet Stitch Divider Free Knitting Pattern

Ribbing

With your 4mm / US 6 knitting needles, cast on 84 st. 

[k1, p1] across for 8 rows.

Divider

Row 1 – 3: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, knit until last 6st, [K1, P1]three times.

Row 4: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, purl until last 6st, [K1, P1] three times. 

Row 5: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, [k1, k2tog, yo, k1] until last 6st, [K1, P1] three times.

Row 6: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, purl until last 6st, [K1, P1] three times. 

Row 7 – 8: Sl1k, p1, [k1, p1] twice, knit until last 6st, [K1, P1] three times.
