The Bobble Road knit blanket stripe pattern section is made out of a simple knit and purl stitches with some extra bobble stitch (referred to as bobble in pattern) added to the mixture. Although it may look tricky it is actually not that hard to knit and you will have step by step video tutorial and picture tutorial to help you on your way.

Before You Start The Bobble Road Free Knitting Pattern

Materials
- 6.5 mm / US 10.5 knitting needles
- Chunky weight yarn: WeCrochet Wool of the Andes Bulky (100% superwash wool,
100g/3.5oz, 125m/137yd): You will need about 85g/106m/116yd in Persimmon Heather - Tapestry needle
Size
For sections where the stitch instructions are different for the different sizes, the size instructions are given in as follows: throw (lapghan).
The Stripe section is approximately 10 cm / 4” high and 127 (102) cm / 50 (40)” wide.
Note: A couple of extra rows of stockinette have been added to the pattern compared to the sample pictures to ensure the stripe had the correct height.
Abbreviations & Instructions
- st = stitch
- k = knit (k 2 means knit 2 stitches)
- p = purl
- sl1p = slip 1 stitch purlwise
- kfb = knit front back (increase)
- RH = right hand
- LH = left hand
Repeat instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row between < >.

Special Stitches
- Bobble Stitch (referred to as bobble in pattern): Work at the ends of your tips to avoid
stretching out the stitches and creating gaps.
- Knit up to stitch where you want to make a bobble.

2. Kfb in indicated stitch. Don’t drop the stitch.

3. Work a second kfb in the same stitch. Don’t drop the stitch.

- Knit the indicated stitch one more time. You’ve created 5 stitches from that 1 stitch.
You’re now going to work these 5 stitches to create the fabric of the bobble

- Purl 5 stitches
- Knit 5 stitches
- Purl 5 stitches
- Slip 3 stitches purlwise

You’re going to slide the stitches off over each other to end back with only the middle stitch (aka 3rd stitch).
- Bring 2nd stitch on RH needle over 3rd stitch on RH needle

10. Slip 3rd stitch from RH needle to LH needle and slide 4th stitch over 3rd stitch

- Slip 3rd stitch back to RH needle and slide 1st stitch over 3rd stitch
- Slip 3rd stitch back to LH needle and slide 5th and final stitch over 3rd stitch

You’ve finished your bobble stitch and can continue your row following the pattern.

The Actual Blanket Section Free Knitting Pattern
Row 1: Sl1p, knit across. <181 (151) st>
Row 2: Sl1p, k5, purl until last 6st, k6
Row 3 – 6: Repeat Row 1-2 twice
Row 7: Sl1p, k5, [k1, p1] until last 7st, k7.
Row 8: Sl1p, k5, purl until last 6st, k6.
Row 9 – 10: Repeat Row 1-2.
Row 11: Sl1p, k10 (5), [k9, bobble, k10] until last 10 (5) st, k10 (5). <181 (151) st>
Row 12: Sl1p, k5, purl until last 6st, k6.
Row 13 – 14: Repeat Row 1-2.
Row 15 – 16: Repeat Row 7-8.
Row 17 – 22: Repeat Row 1-2 three times.
