Before You Start Your Eagle Flight Filet Crochet Stitch Tutorial Blanket Stripe Section
Materials
- 4 mm / US G – 6 hook
- WeCrochet Wool of the Andes (worsted weight (4), 100% superwash wool, 50g/1.75oz, 100m/110yd) in Icicle Heather. You will need about 230g / 460 m / 506 yd.
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
Size
The Blanket section is approximately 33 cm /13” tall and 120 cm / 47” wide. The eagle flight stitch requires a stitch multiple of 45 st + 30.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern, in pattern, is 17.5 st by 11.5 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm / 4” by 4” square.
Note: To meet the blanket gauge of 17.5 st / 10 cm, this section was crocheted with a 4 mm / US G-6 hook, aka one size down from the blanket standard hook.
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- RS = right side
- WS = wrong side
Notes
Work instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row / round.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row / round between < >.
The turning ch 1, ch 2 don’t count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned otherwise.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “dc 1” means to double crochet in the next stitch,
- “dc 2” means to double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 dc” means to double crochet twice in the next st.
Because the hummingbirds aren’t symmetrical, the instructions for right-handed and left-handed crocheters vary in this section.
Special Stitches
- Bobble Stitch =
- Yarn over, insert your hook,
- *Yarn over and pull up a loop,
- Yarn over and pull through two loops, * repeat from * to * four more times in same st (6 loops on your hook),
- Yarn over and pull through all the loops.
