Before you Start the Flowers Crochet Blanket Stripe
Materials
- 4.5 mm / US H – 8 hook.
- Worsted weight yarn: WeCrochet Comfy Worsted (75% pima cotton, 25% acrylic, 50g/1.75oz, 100m/109yd):
You will need about 120g/240m/262yd.*

Assume highest usage to be sure you have enough yarn.
Size
The Blanket section is approximately 12.5 cm / 5” tall and 127 cm / 50” wide.
The flower stitch requires a multiple of 18 st.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern, in dc, is 14.5 st by 10 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm / 4” by 4” square.
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US notations.
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
Notes
Work instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row / round.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row / round between < >.
The turning ch 1, ch 2 don’t count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned otherwise.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “dc 1” means to double crochet in the next stitch,
- “dc 2” means to double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 dc” means to double crochet twice in the next st.
Special Stitches and Repeated Patterns
- Puff stitch (5 half double crochet puff worked all in one st) = yarn over (yo), insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop] 4 times, yo, pull through all 11 loops on the hook. There is no ch 1 to close the puff stitch.
Note: For this pattern your puff stitches will be worked on wrong side rows so it will show on the right side when you turn your work.
The Actual Blanket Section Crochet Pattern
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc across, turn. <180 st>
Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, [sc 2, puff, sc, puff, sc 13] repeat across, turn.
Row 3 (RS): Ch 1, [sc 13, sl st 2, sc 3] across, turn.
Row 4 (WS): Ch 1, [sc, puff, sc, ch 2, skip 1 sl st, sc in 2nd sl st, puff, sc 12] repeat across, turn.
Row 5 (RS): Ch 1, sc across working only 1 sc in each ch-2 sp, turn.
Row 6 (WS): Ch 1, [sc 2, puff, sc , puff, sc 13] repeat across, turn.
Row 7-9: Ch 1, sc across, turn
Row 10 (WS): Ch 1, [sc 11, puff, sc, puff, sc 4] across, turn.
Row 11 (RS): Ch 1, [sc 4, sl st 2, sc 12] across turn
Row 12 (WS): Ch 1, [sc 10, puff, sc, ch 2, skip 1, sc, puff, sc 3] across, turn.
