This pumpkin square was made especially for the Fall Cozy Make-Along Blanket organized by Hortense from Knitting with Chopsticks. This square is for the adventurous beginner who wants to venture into the colorwork / crochet tapestry technique. It is constructed by using just single crochet stitches. Yarn that was used in constructing the square is a category #4 worsted yarn. You may use any color combination which pleases you.

A Word from the Designer

What to say about me?

Well, I learned how to filet crochet from my mother in my early teen years.

We used to make table runners, placemats, pillow covers, tablecloths, pillowcases, bedspreads, and even curtains using the technique of filet crochet.

I dropped crocheting when life got too busy – working, taking care of aging parents until their death (2014 for Mom and 2017 for Dad, both were taken from me by cancer).

I have never had anything besides them, my work, and a small circle of friends – not even dated until 2017.

Having immigrated from the Philippines to the United States in November 2017, I was floored with the variety and colors of yarn that I saw at Michaels so thought I would pick up crocheting again.

This time, I tried colorwork or tapestry crochet as it is very much similar to filet crochet design-wise.  I started designing in October 2020 after having left my work in the school district of my city.

I do not have a registered business nor a blog page yet (so immensely thankful for Knitting with Chopsticks to host me here!) but when I design, I tagged them as Made By Marsh.

I live in Snoqualmie, WA, USA with my husband and currently work as an administrative assistant in an assisted living, memory care, and independent living senior community.

I can be found on Facebook (@braveheartthecat), Instagram (@mcgmarsh) and Ravelry (KGMarsh).
