The Easy Crochet Blanket Construction

This simple crochet blanket pattern is beautiful on both sides!

This chunky blanket crochet pattern uses a super simplified mosaic crochet concept for interlocking stripes. Making only chains and trebles, you will create this stunning interlocking effect between each stripe. The crochet pattern below includes written row by row instructions.

The Yarn

The Puzzle crochet blanket shown on the pictures was made from 2 great bulky weight yarns.

A total of 4 colors was used. You may of course play with the number of colors used to create your dream chunky crochet blanket. If you want to achieve the same result as the showcased throw blanket, you will need:

  • LionBrand hue + me (Bulky weight 5, 80% acrylic, 20% wool, 125m/137yd, 125g/4.4oz):
    • Love Song (Color D): 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) skeins
    • Agave (Color B): 2 (3, 3, 3, 6) skeins
    • Salt (Color C): 2 (3, 3, 3, 6) skeins
  • Zeeman Julia (Bulky weight 5, 80% acrylic, 20% wool, 170m/186yd, 100g/4.4oz):
    • Light pink (Color A): 3 (3, 4, 4, 7) skeins

Both are similar 80% acrylic, 20% wool yarns.

You can easily substitute with any chunky weight yarn you want.

Tip: When substituting yarn, make sure you check the yardage per skein of the yarn you’re planning to use and calculate how many skeins you’ll need based on the pattern yarn yardage per skein.

Also make sure your gauge matches the pattern’s so the sizing comes out right 😉.
