Before you Start
Materials
For this bobble stitch tutorial I used:
- 4 mm / US G – 6 crochet hook
- Lion Brand Coboo (50% cotton, 50% bamboo) DK weight yarn.
Using an average-sized hook and a light-colored medium-sized yarn is easiest to learn. Depending on your pattern you will need a different hook and yarn.

Abbreviations
This tutorial follows US crochet notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- dc = single crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- skip = miss
Special Stitches
Puff stitch = Yarn over, insert hook in indicated st, yarn over, pull up a loop, [yarn over, insert hook in same st, yarn over, pull up a loop] twice, yarn over, pull through all 7 loops on the hook, ch 1 to close the puff stitch.

Notes
Work instructions between [ ] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row between < >.
The turning ch 2, ch 3 count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned otherwise.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “sc 1” means to single crochet in the next stitch,
- “sc 2” means to single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 sc” means to single crochet twice in the next st.

Eyelet Puff Crochet Stitch Video Tutorial
For those of you who prefer to learn with video, I’ve filmed a short video showing you how to crochet the eyelet puff stitch.
I’m left-handed, and although I’ve tried a lot, I can’t crochet right-handed, I’m sorry.

Blocking
You’re done with the crocheting part. Make sure to weave in all the ends.
To make your stitch pattern even prettier, help straighten your edges and make the open stitch and puffs come out even more, block your project lightly.
Don’t skip this step as it can make a huge difference. Read my detailed tutorial on why block, how-to, and all my tips and tricks if you need help.
