The Brussels Blanket Section is a versatile and tactile crochet stripe pattern that brings depth and interest to your blanket design. Measuring 127 cm (50″) wide and 12.5 cm (5″) high, this section is perfect for creating a striking horizontal stripe with a cozy, handmade feel. Each section is worked over 180 stitches, and we recommend adding 2 transition rows between sections for a clean and polished look.

One of the best things about this pattern is its flexibility—whether you’re following the full CAL or customizing your own blanket, this stripe adapts easily. Want to resize it? Simply add or remove stitches in multiples of 60 to fit your desired width. Whether you use just one section, repeat your favorites, or stitch up the entire collection, the Brussels section helps you build a unique Road Trip Blanket that reflects your style. And best of all, the pattern is free—so grab your yarn, hook, and get ready to hit the crochet road!

Inspiration Behind My Textured Crochet Blanket Stripe Pattern Idea

For my contribution to the Road Trip Blanket CAL, I wanted to bring a little piece of my hometown to your hook. I’m from Brussels, so naturally, that’s the destination I chose to inspire my stripe design. When people think of Brussels, two iconic treats often come to mind: waffles and chocolate. Stroll through the heart of the city and you’ll see them everywhere—golden waffles sizzling on hot irons and decadent chocolate displayed in every shop window. These sweet symbols of Belgian culture were the perfect muse for my stripe.

The design itself is a playful nod to both of these delicious delights. I used waffle stitch sections to echo the crisp, grid-like texture of Belgian waffles, while another portion of the stripe mimics the squares of a chocolate bar, capturing that rich, familiar look. The combination not only adds fun texture to your blanket, but also tells a story—one of home, flavor, and a little European flair. I hope you enjoy stitching it as much as I enjoyed designing it!

Row 10 – 12: Repeat Row 2 to 4

The chart below shows the 60 stitch repeat of the Brussels Section. Please note, the first and last stitch vary slightly on the first and last repeat to avoid having fpdc or bpdc on the blanket edges. These are switched for regular dc stitches.
