Before you Start the Tidal Textures Throw Raindrops Blanket Stripe Free Crochet Pattern
Materials
- 6.5 mm / US K – 10.5 hook
- Rosarios Amor-Perfeito (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 100g/3.5oz, 120m/131yd) in Pink (21) or Wool-Ease LionBrand Wool Ease (80% acrylic, 20% wool, 197yd / 180m, 3oz/80g) in Denim [620-114B].
- You will need about 384m/420yd
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
Size
The Blanket section is approximately 23 cm / 9.5” tall and 127 cm / 50 inches wide.
The raindrops stitch requires a stitch multiple of 6 st + 6.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern, in sc, is 12 st by 13 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm / 4” by 4” square.
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
- WS = wrong side
Notes
Work instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row / round.

The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row / round between < >.
The turning ch 1, ch 2 don’t count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned otherwise.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “dc 1” means to double crochet in the next stitch,
- “dc 2” means to double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 dc” means to double crochet twice in the next st.
Special Stitches and Repeated Patterns
- Back post double crochet (bpdc):
- Yarn over, insert hook from back to front to back behind the double crochet post below, yarn over, and pull up a long loop (3 loops on hook).
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, and pull through the remaining loops.

The Actual Raindrops Blanket Stripe Free Crochet Pattern
As this is the first Tidal Textures Throw CAL section, start with ch 150 + 1 and start working row 1 in 2nd ch from hook.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 5, [dc, sc 5] across, turn. <150 st>
Row 2: Ch 1, sc 5, [bpdc, sc 5] until last st, sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, [sc 3, dc, sc 2] across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, [sc 2, bpdc, sc 3] across, turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc 6, [dc, sc 5] until last st, turn.
Repeat Row 2 to 5 until your stripe measures 23 cm / 9.5″. Finish with a WS Row 2 or 4.
Remember to crochet a divider when you have finished this section.
