Chevron Pattern
The chevron ripple afghan pattern of the Eldoris blanket is made by simply increasing and decreasing at the same place on every row creating a V shape pattern in the blanket. Increases/Decreases on the sides are placed strategically to keep the edges straight.
Not to worry though! All you have to do is dc2tog (decrease) and make 2 dc in the same stitch (increase) where the pattern tells you to, to get this beautiful chevron pattern.
Plain rows of double crochet stitches are alternated with colorful rows of bobbles to highlight the chevron crochet pattern and add a pop of colorful texture to this modern crochet blanket.

Before you Start your Crochet Chevron Blanket
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn: Royal Zeeman yarn (100% acrylic, 100g/3.5oz, 241m/264yd):
- 9 skeins in oatmeal (main color)
- 1 skeins in each of the 4 contrast color (mustard, rust, red and green
You can easily substitute with any worsted weight yarn you want.
- Tapestry needle to weave in the ends. I love this set as it has different eye sizes for different yarn thicknesses, and it comes in a small tube which is very convenient, so I don’t lose them.
Size
The blanket crochet pattern is given for a throw sized blanket of 120 cm x 144 cm / 47 x 56.5”
You can easily adjust the pattern to make your own size:
- You can easily adjust the length of the blanket by adding/removing repeats. Each repeat is 16 cm / 6.25” long. Depending on the size of blanket you want to make, use a different number of contrasting colors so you can have an even number of repeats of each color. Don’t forget to count one extra 16 cm / 6.25” as you will begin and finish with a main color section.
- To adjust the width of the blanket you can add/remove a multiple of 41 stitches. One repeat is 30 cm / 12” wide.
Make sure to adjust your yarn quantities accordingly! As an indication, with the pattern’s blanket width, each main color section uses one skein of main color yarn. You can work up to 3 repeats of a contrast color with one skein.
Example: If you want to make a baby blanket 90 cm x 96 cm / 35.5 x 38”:
- Width: You want a blanket that is 30 cm less wide than the pattern’s size, so you need to remove one repeat of 41 st. Therefore you will need a starting chain of 123 + 2 st (164 st of the throw size starting chain – 41 st = 123 st)
- Length: Your new blanket size is 96 cm. Since each repeat is 16 cm long, you will have 6 sections (96 cm / 16 cm = 6), which means you will work 5 color rows.I would use either 5 different contrast colors or 2 contrast colors and start and finish with the same contrast color.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern, in dc is 13 st by 8 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- dc2tog = double crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
- yo = yarn over
Notes
Work instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row/round.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row/round between < >.
The turning ch 1, ch 2 don’t count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned otherwise.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “sc 1” means to single crochet in the next stitch,
- “sc 2” means to single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 sc” means to single crochet twice in the next st.
Special Stitches
- Bobble stitch (5 dc cluster) = [yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a loop, yo, pull through two loops] 5 times in the same space, yo and pull through all 6 loops.
The Actual Chevron Crochet Blanket Pattern

With your 6 mm / US J-10 hook and main color yarn, ch 164 + 2.
Row 1: Starting in 3rd ch from hook [dc2tog, dc 18, 3 dc, dc 18, dc2tog,] across, turn. <164 st>
Row 2: Ch 2, [dc2tog, dc 18, 3 dc, dc 18, dc2tog,] across, turn.
Row 3 – 11: Repeat Row 2
Switch to first contrast color (green) yarn
Row 12: Ch 1, [sc, bobble], sc] across, turn.
Chevron Blanket Repeat
Switch to main color yarn.
Repeat Row 1 to 11
Switch to next contrast color yarn
Repeat Row 12
Work a blanket repeat using each of the contrast colors in the following order: red, rust, mustard.
Then repeat the entire color scheme again: green, red, rust, mustard.
Finish with repeating Row 2 to 11 one more time in main color yarn.
Blocking
You’re done with the crocheting part. Make sure to weave in all the ends.
