Materials

  • 5.5 mm/ US 9 knitting needles. 

I use circular needles for convenience but you can use straight needles.

  • Loops & Threads Soft Classic (100% acrylic, 240m /262yd, 100g): 2 (3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 11, 18, 19, 21) skeins in color Mushroom.

Note: You can easily substitute with any worsted weight yarn.

  • Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.

You can easily adapt the size to your desired project size. Add or remove a multiple of 4 to your starting stitch count.

Gauge

The gauge for this pattern, in stitch pattern is 14 st by 23 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).

Abbreviations & Instructions

  • st = stitch
  • k = knit (k 2 means knit 2 stitches)
  • p = purl
  • sl1p = slip 1 stitch purlwise

Repeat instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the round/row.

The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the round/row between < >.

Row 1: Sl1p, knit across. 

Repeat until you reach 10 cm / 4″.

Row 2: Sl1p, k13, purl until last 14 st, k14.

Repeat Row 1 and 2 for 6 cm / 2.25” finishing on a Row 2.

Row 3: Sl1p, knit across

Row 4: Sl1p, k13, p8, [k1, p1] until last 23 st, k1, p8, k14

Row 5: Sl1p, knit across

Row 6: Sl1p, k13, p8, [k3, p1] until last 25 st, k3, p8, k14

Repeat Row 3-6 until total length is 73 (83, 116, 121, 136, 136, 213, 258, 258, 258) cm / 28.75 (32.5, 45.75, 47.5, 53.5, 53.5, 84, 101.5, 101.5, 101.5)”, finishing on a Row 5.

Blocking
