16 free crochet stitch patterns inspired by geometry

*This post contains affiliate links (only for products I love, use and spend my own money on obviously). This means I earn some yarn money if you make a purchase through one of these links (of course at no extra cost for you!), which I promise to use to create more awesome patterns like this one. In addition, some posts are sponsored by yarn companies. All opinions are my own. See my full disclosure here

The stitches are all inspired by geometry, a mix of geometric colorwork and textures. They range from the simplest crochet stitch to crochet stitches for blankets, lacey crochet stitches, and unique stitches. Each crochet stitch pattern will include step-by-step instructions as well as detailed pictures and explanations to make sure they all become easy crochet stitches for everyone!

The crochet stitch patterns are written for 15 cm x 15 cm / 6 x 6″ squares, using 4mm / US G-6 and 5mm / US H-8 hooks. Each stitch will also have stitch repeat instructions so you can easily use it in your own projects!

All samples are worked in Hobbii Amigo yarn. It’s a classic DK weight 3 acrylic yarn with a good stitch definition. Affordable and available in over 60 different colorways, it’s perfect for a swatch blanket project.

Crochet Stitch Patterns Dictionary

All crochet stitch tutorials will be available on our blogs but if you want a printable PDF version for easy recording and to take notes etc. You can grab the E-book with all 16 stitch tutorials here.

Sometimes it’s just easier to have a stitch dictionary on hand when you’re deciding on your next project rather than having to search online and remember where you saved that crochet stitch you want to use.

Or if you just want to get a head start and not wait for the daily stitches to be released ;).

Join the Crochet-A-Long (CAL)

What’s a CAL?

Simply put, a crochet-a-long is an event where we’ll all be working on the same project. Designers usually release the pattern/tutorial in phases and you can all share your progress and ask questions. This can be a specific pattern or in this case a series of new stitch patterns.

The purpose is to learn, exchange tips and tricks, hold yourself accountable, and most importantly HAVE FUN!

Time Table

From February 15th to March 4th we’ll share a new crochet stitch every weekday. Claire and I will take turns sharing a new pattern. There won’t be any new stitches on weekends, this gives you time to catch up and take a break.

Feel free to take it at your own pace though, we’re all here to have a fun learning experience!

I will be posting all the new tutorial links on this page, make sure you bookmark or pin it for easy reference.

What Yarn Will you Need?

All crochet stitch patterns are designed with DK weight Hobbii Amigo yarn. It’s a classic DK weight 3 acrylic yarn with a good stitch definition. Affordable and available in over 60 different colorways, it’s perfect for a swatch blanket project.

You can of course substitute with any yarn when you want to use these stitches in your own projects. All stitches can be worked up in any yarn weight (make sure you make a gauge swatch for your project).

While some stitches feature only one color, some are multicolor and use up to 3 colors.

All 15 cm / 6″ swatches use 4mm / US G-6 and 5mm / US H-8 hooks.

What to Make with Your Swatches

You’ll be learning a new stitch every day and making a 15 cm x 15 cm / 6 x 6″ square but what to do with all those little squares?

Make them all with the same yarn and you can easily assemble them into a fun project. Here are some ideas:

  • Baby blanket
  • Scarf
  • Pillow cover
  • Bag

If you plan to use your swatches make sure you check your gauge and meet the stitch pattern’s gauge so all your squares end up the same size!

Need Extra Help to Learn How to Read Crochet Charts and Graphs?
