I love making baby clothes. They are so small (therefore fast) and anything small is always so cute. These Happy Feet crochet booties pattern for babies are very simple, with just a little twist at the ankle to make them special. They’re very easy to make and work up in no time.
They are constructed as booties but the fingering weight cotton bamboo yarn makes them so thin and soft they can be used as socks in the winter and booties in warmer months.
Their simple design makes them perfect for a little prince or a little princess depending on the color you choose.

Before you Start
Materials
- 2.5 mm / US 1 crochet hook. I love and use this simple cheap set of hooks.
- Fingering weight cotton yarn. I used this cotton bamboo blend, it’s really soft. You need about 50m / 55 yard / 60 g for one pair of socks.
- Tapestry needle to weave in the ends. I love this set as it has different eye sizes for different yarn thickness and it comes in a small tube which is very convenient so I don’t lose them.
Abbreviations
This pattern follows US notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- miss x = skip the next x stitches
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease. I recommend using an invisible decrease.
Repeat instructions between ** the indicated number of times or until the end of the round.
Each increase or decrease is worked in a separate stitch throughout the pattern.
My gauge is 34 stitches by 40 rows for a 10cm by 10cm square .
Crochet Booties Sizes
The pattern is available in 3 sizes: 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months.
The Actual Crochet Booties Pattern for Babies
I have included step by step pictures for the 0-3 months size only. The other sizes follow the same construction, only the number of stitches is different. For better readability, I have separated the explanations per size.
The right and left socks are identical. Just follow the instructions twice. Or you can just make one sock or even 3 socks but that wouldn’t make much sense.
Each sock is divided in 3 sections. The sole, the foot and the ankle parts.
