The body of the blanket is worked flat in rows back and forth. The border is then worked in the round around the blanket. You’ll turn your work after each round to form the beautiful ribbed stitch.

Before You Start Your Timber Touch Chunky Crochet Blanket Free Pattern
Materials
- 8 mm / US L – 11 hook
- Chunky weight yarn: Swish Bulky (100% fine superwash merino, 100g/3.5oz, 137m/150yd):
- 4 (7, 10, 9, 12, 15, 30, 51, 55, 62) skeins in Squirrel Heather (MC)
- 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 9, 9, 9) skeins in Nutmeg Heather (CC)
You can easily substitute with any worsted weight yarn you want. Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern is 12.5 st by 7 rows in central panel stitch for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).
Size
The blanket crochet pattern is available in 10 sizes, noted as baby (receiving, toddler, crib small, crib regular, throw, twin, double, queen, king) throughout the pattern. Pictures illustrate the receiving size.

You can easily adapt the size to your desired project size: add/remove a multiple of 3 to the starting chain and add/remove a repeat. Make sure to adjust your yarn requirements accordingly.
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US notations.
- st = stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
Notes
Work instructions between [] the indicated number of times or until the end of the row/round. Instructions between () are worked in the same stitch/space.
The final number of stitches is indicated at the end of the row/round between < >.
The turning ch 1, ch 2 don’t count as stitches throughout the pattern except if mentioned.
The pattern is written in crochet shorthand. For example:
- “dc 1” means to double crochet in the next stitch,
- “dc 2” means to double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches,
- and “2 dc” means to double crochet twice in the next st.

The Actual Timber Touch Chunky Crochet Blanket Free Pattern
With your 8 mm / US L – 11 hook, ch 71 (105, 111, 93, 119, 141, 185, 263, 281, 321) + 1
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 1, skip 1, sc] across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc, [2 hdc in ch-1 space, skip sc] until last st ch-1 space, hdc 2 in ch-1 space, hdc in last sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc, sc in between first and 2nd hdc of the previous row, [ch 1, skip 2, sc in between the next 2 hdc] until last 2 st, ch 1, skip 2, sc in last st.
Repeat Row 2 and 3 until you reach 71 (84, 114, 119, 134, 134, 211, 256, 256, 256) cm / 28 (33, 44.5, 46.75, 52.75, 52.75, 83, 100.75, 100.75, 100.75)”.

Border
To finish off your blanket, cut off and bind off the MC yarn.
Join the CC yarn approximately in the middle of one side.
Round 1: [Hdc until corner, 3hdc in corner (mark middle st as the corner st)] around, hdc until end of round, join with a sl st in ch, turn.

Note: Work 1 st in each st and 1 st per row
Round 2: Ch 1, [sl st in 3rd loop until marked st, 3 sl st in 3rd loop of marked st] around, sl st in 3rd loop until end of round, join with a sl st in ch, turn.

Round 3: Ch 1, [hdc in front loop only until marked st, 3 hdc in marked st] around, hdc until end of round, join with a sl st in ch, turn.

Repeat Row 2 and 3 until you reach 9 cm / 3.75” wide finishing on a row 3.
Bind off and weave in the ends.
Blocking
You’re done with the crocheting part, make sure to weave in all the ends.
